These chert / flint stones also make excellent fire starters when struck with carbon steel or scraped on a ferrocerrium rod (see video). Because these are natural rocks, they are highly variable. But each piece is typically 3" to 6" at its widest point and weighs from 1 pound to 4 pounds. Each package will typically have 6 to 8 stones. They have not been heat treated or processed in any way. Chert and Jasper are the general name for several types of stone that are extremely hard and fracture into pieces with sharp edges. Flint is usually chert that is grey.
