HUGE Vintage 2 pc Millinery Multiple Daisies Flower Leaf Mold Brass Antique #51

This is a rare one! It's absolutely enormous! makes an applique of a bunch of smaller flowers together.This is beautiful just as something to set around even if you never intend to use it. It has a gorgeous patina. Imagine all the leaves that were actually made with this. This is a 2 piece that doesn't have the cutter. I do have a very similar 3 piece set with cutter and I think if you had that one also it could be used to cut both flowers. It's available in my other listings while it lasts. This has has deep indentations that makes it perfect for velvet or heavier fabrics. The top part of the mold with the wooden handle is 12 inches long by about 5 1/2 inches across and one inch deep. I believe it is cast iron. The bottom part is bronze or brass and is 6 by 6 by 1 1/2 inches. Weighs about 10 1/2 pounds. This is quite usable and you could actually cut and form a flower today exactly how it was done years ago. Get several molds and start a little business!Cut the fabric of your choice (velvet or cotton). Heat the brass bottom piece. Just placing it on a griddle or stove top and warming it a bit will do. Put some liquid starch on the cut out piece and place it between the top and bottom and press. If you have some way of clamping it tightly it will help. Remove and let dry.Wonderful also just for display. This is a serious well-made tool set.
