Genuine California Mid Century Modern studio pottery! Wishon Harrell was a Modern pottery studio with two artists, Jim Wishon and Jerry Harrell operating from 1971-1994. Jim threw the pottery and Jerry did the glazing and ornamentation. First studying under accomplished artist Frank WIllett in the late 1960s, Wishon and Harrell opened their first studio in 1971 in Pico Rivera, California, taking over Frank WIllett's studio after he relocated to Santa Fe, New Mexico. Throughout their career they moved locations to San Diego, California; Durango, Colorado; and finally Muncie Indiana, exploring naturally inspired ornamentation on homeware, tableware, and sculptural pieces. Wishon in his early years had pieces curated in the prestigious series California Design exhibits and publications produced by the Pasadena Art Museum, featured in California Design 9 - 1969.This piece signed "Wishon Harrell San Diego" and the glossy glaze finish likely dates to the mid-1970s. Small chip on the lid, otherwise in great condition!Measurements:5.25" at rim5.75" at base8.5" to top of lidMessage me with any questions!
