Delightful, describes this Wooden Box. I am selling an Antique, Handmade, Wooden Pyrographic Box. Often referred to as "Wood Burning or Pokerwork". Pyography was popular at the Turn of the 19th Century. Scenes and Designs were Hand Burned with a heated tool, into Wood. Items such as boxes and pictures, and other decorative pieces. This EXCEPTIONAL Box is decorated with a Girls Head, imposed over a Heart. As well as Roses and a Cupid. Burned into the wood, both on the outside, as well as on the Inside, of the Lid. Then Handpainted in Red and Green. The Box and Lid also, have an overall, Criss-Cross Design, Burned into the wood. The Lid opens and closes well, with the 2 Original Brass Hinges. Makes a FANTASTIC Valentines display! The Box measures approximately 10"×3 1/2"×2". Good condition. Strong paint. The Hinge on the right side of the lid has been repaired with a nail. Causes no problems, in either functioning or outside appearance. Please review the photos for the condition. A Pyography "WORK OF ART".
