They played in the Class-A Florida State League and won two division and two league titles, both in 1983 and 2007. They remained an affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers through 2006 then spent 2007 and 2008 as an affiliate of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, a change that also saw them change their name to the Vero Beach Devil Rays. Following the 2008 season the team was sold and moved to Port Charlotte, Florida, where they became the Charlotte Stone Crabs. The best known and most successful player to appear for the Vero Beach Dodgers was Hall of Famer Mike Piazza, who played for the team in 1990.
