J. Hindle's Star Cobalt Wiped 1850s Stoneware Beer Bottle Collectible

A fairly scarce 1850s J.Hindle's salt glaze stoneware beer bottle from Portland, Maine with a nice cobalt star embossed!....J.HINDLE'S (star) debossed boldly into the shoulder and highlighted in cobalt.....Also cobalt wiped top.....Hand thrown thick heavy stoneware bottle....big tapered collar....gray salt glaze finish.....10 3/4"tall....Good condition with only a shallow chip at base & a chip on underside of collar on back of bottle. Also has a natural 2"long thin kiln glaze chip on side of bottle from when it was made where it stuck against another bottle while in the kiln. No other issues. A nice clean bottle with no stain. Displays great from the front. James Hindle began a small brewery out of his home at 3 Neal Street in Portland in 1842. He died in 1867.
