TSS Remington 742, 740 & 7400 Disassembly Barrel Nut Takedown Wrench This premium tool is used to remove the barrel nut for further servicing, cleaning and maintenance of these Remington rifles. It is critical to use a proper fitting tool to remove these barrel nuts to ensure they do not get rounded or damaged, leading to additional difficulty. Some aftermarket barrel nuts are not made to proper spec, so we cannot guarantee fitment. Constructed from 4140 Pre Hardened Steel for a lifetime of use!Compared to the other wrenches on the market, which just have parallel jaws for use with the 7-sided barrel nut, we integrated a combination cut that can also handle 6-sided nuts. This makes the tool more dual-purpose, as you can use it for other things, such as tightening precision reloading die components.Instructions: Measure the actual barrel nut width and then seat the corresponding end of the wrench fully on the nut. Using hand pressure, gently apply pressure until the barrel nut begins to loosen. We recommend using a penetrating oil and heat for removal the first time. DO NOT beat or hammer on this wrench. The wrench is designed to fit very snug onto the barrel nut. Sometimes it may need a few soft taps with a soft face mallet to fully seat onto the barrel nut, this is common.
