Auch er fiel für sein Vaterland He too fell (gave his life) for his fatherland. I am guessing that this is likely a Polish citizen or military soldier. I am certain that this is from the Invasion of Poland as I have another photo (also listed for sale), in the same handwriting, that is identified from the Battle of Wegierska-Gorka, which was on the first day of the invasion. I would speculate that this is also from that battle. The writer seems to indicate in his tone (he, too) that this is a Pole and not a German. Both photos are from the German perspective. Incredibly rare and unique photo from the very outset of what is considered as the true beginning of WW2. Measures approximately 4 by 2 3/4 Box J 08192021Weight 0 ounces
