Wonderful Art deco style bookplate by 20th century artist Rockwell Kent. Kent designed many custom bookplates for clients, charging as little as $100 to $250 during the 1930's and 40's. Many were done originally as woodcuts. This bookplate was done for Greenland Press in the 1930s. This is an original bookplate that were available in packs. Note the space for the owner's name below the artwork.Taken from the original package (not included) which states; "Rockwell Kent is one of the most distinguished figures in American art. He works in many mediums and is recognized as the foremost designer of bookplates. Heretofore they have been available only by personal commission. These plates are printed on a fine grade of un-gummed rag content paper, with privately blended inks, by skilled craftsmen. Mr. Kent personally re-tooled each plate to assure perfect reproduction."
