Split maple is a higher quality way of producing wooden billets as it reduces multi piece breaks and ensures that the slope of grain is straighter than "sawing". This is really important for the integrity of the wood. These bats are blems, but are still game ready. All bats, even though they are blems, will still pass mlb ink dot certification. The blemishes with these bats are mainly cosmetic. This can range anywhere from, but not limited to mineral stains, in grown bark, pin knots, warping, vine tracking, or just cosmetically unsightly in general. It is important to note that these blemishes will not cause the bat to break because of their blemishes, and that is because the wood is HAND SPLIT.
