The Archaeology Grab BagEach order includes ten real historical artifacts from the Old World. The items that you will receive may include those pictured and many more (always stocking up on new inventory). They include coins, jewelry, and tools.I'm a collector myself and I enjoy sharing my passion for history with others.Civilizations include Greek, Roman, Byzantine, Celtic, Judaean, Egyptian, Paleolithic, Neolithic, Crusader, Medieval, Islamic, Indian, Chinese, Mongol, etc...The artifacts come individually wrapped, with a little note detailing background information. The value of this grab bag offers some of these items at a *significant* discount to their market retail price. The authenticity of these artifacts is my highest priority. I want the order to meet your expectations! Please reach out with any questions or requests.*But are you absolutely certain that these are authentic?*I spend a lot of time researching coin dealers, antiquities sellers, and metal detectorists, and I am certain that my suppliers are among the most credible of those available. Please send a direct message if you are curious about my sources.*What does "authentic" mean?*Authenticity comes with the marks of time and discovery. The condition is not "New", but "Used". These artifacts were buried for centuries and millenia, and they were only recently unearthed in farms, fields, forests, riverbeds, beaches, and deserts. Some of the artifacts have been cleaned, others are still dirty. I recommend rinsing off any sediment with water to uncover the surface underneath, which may contain designs and even silvering/gilding.*What sort of artifacts will I receive?*I will try to update the listing's photos as I grow my inventory... however, to maintain the integrity of the "grab bag", I'd like there to be an element of surprise. Rest assured that every customer will likely receive at least one ancient coin. Other artifacts include coins, jewelry, and tools. I try to keep the selection diverse.*How do you know these items are authentic historical artifacts that were made and used by people thousands of years ago?*I have a BA in Art History, studied for a MA in Heritage Preservation, trained as a Numismatist, participated in several archaeology digs, and assisted in curating a few museum exhibits. I'm interested in this stuff, so the items that you receive are the same that I collect for myself. They are all carefully selected and researched.*Current inventory includes (but is not limited to): Late Roman bronze coins of the 4th century AD, colorful faience mummy beads of Ancient Egypt, Roman military artifacts and armor of the Danubian Limes, jitals of the Khwarazmian Empire from just prior to its destruction by Genghis Khan, Indo-Greek conch and ivory beads from the century after Alexander the Great's conquest of the Indus River Valley, Livonian solidi and Tsarist rubles from the wars over the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, Sogdian cash coins minted by the Huns and the Gokturks along the Silk Road, colorful stone and glass mosaic tesserae from Roman Judaea, tin pitis of the Palembang Sultanate minted during its rebellion against the Dutch East India Company, Habsburg period dandy buttons, Celtic metalwork from the mid-1st millennium BC, Chinese cash coins and their imitations from East Asia, Neolithic arrow points of the Atlas Mountains and the Sahara Desert, copper kakinis of the Nagas of Padmavati, Crusader imitations of Byzantine trachies made after the Fourth Crusade, heraldic harness mounts of Medieval Europe, and much more!
