I mean ... Grateful Dead Fans !?! ( likely East-Coasters ! ) ... and All Ye' fellow Dead Fans from the Grate ! ' Mid-Atlantic ' !! & Beyond !!! Wow ... I mean was there Anything ! in Life quite as cool as Grateful Dead Summer Tour ... at Good Ol' R.F.K. !!?!! Man ... as there sure are days when I really think ' Not ' !?? Hot & Sticky ( often ! ) - and even Rainy-too ( sometimes ! ) ... but, this was a Venue - being the Nation's Capital ! and all ... that our Rock & Roll Heroes ! - really-liked ( Loved ! ) to just Hammer !! - while Throwin' a few Stones ! too - Ha ! Dang ... I mean just thinking about it makes me want to go & throw in an " RFK ! " Dead Video !! say, maybe ... 6/14/91 ! and/or 7/12/90 ! perhaps ??! Sheer ! Rock & Roll - in " D.C. Dead ! " style & fashion. Well ... I did my ' Dead-icated ' Duty ! as a Loyal Deadhead - by successfully ( Really-successfully ! ... Ha !! ) attending Six ( 6 ) Dead Shows at R.F.K. ... which, is a pretty darn-good count - considering the Band only ever played there Fifteen ( 15 ) Times !! The 1st Two ( 2 ) Dead Shows at Robert F. Kennedy Stadium ! were on the '73 Summer Tour ( obviously ... ) & were also with the Allman Brothers ! ( probably even more obviously ... ) - but, then the Band had a pretty steep ' no-show ' at RFK ... from '73 to '86 ! - then finally they were back-in-action in RFK with Dylan ! & Petty ! too !! on the 1986 Summer Tour ! ... and then, from '86 to '95 - they really packed-them in nicely ! at the ' Proud-Home ' of the Redskins ! ( Ha ! ... & " Hail To-Em !! ). So, if you lived around D.C. - or even anywhere remotely-close ... " D.C. Dead ! " was most-definitely the-thing to do ... in the Sweet, Sweet ! Summertime !!! Point being ... sometimes you had to cut that Ocean City ! ' Trip ' Short !!!?! - ( Hah !! ). And my of my ... do I remember the '89 Summer Tour run there - when Camping in the Lot ! was still allowed ... with my point being - I can ' easily ' see why ( & saw-why ) that was indeed the ' last-time ' it was ever-allowed - Crazy, Crazy, Crazy~Nights !! A lot of Fans down the Stadium Shows - for many-many reasons quite obvious - and ... especially many West Coasters ( for reasons even more-obvious ! ) - but I have to say that it was Always ! quite a remarkable a sight to see. The Band giving their collective All ! - and playing into a Sea ! of Dead Fans !! It was like this at R.F.K. - Three Rivers - Soldier Field - and obviously Giants Stadium ... but, it was really the crazy-unique Stadium ' Shape ' of RFK that made this something-else. As in so many ways ... this Stadium was really & truly one-of-a-kind ! - well, you know ... next to Mighty~Autzen ! and all ( naturally ... ). And ... the Band delivered the Heat !! there like Clockwork ! - or, as Bobby used to like to say ... " just like a Swiss Watch !! " ( Ha ! ). And, I myself was in the House ! - and can testify to this exact Bringing-of-the-Heat ! I mean pound for pound - I always thought that 7/13/89 was the very-best R.F.K. Show I saw ( with 7/12/90 as an arguable close 2nd ) - and, in this case ... the Band Smoked ! the place - despite being in the midst of a Rainstorm !! One of my own personal fondest G.D. RFK memories ( of Many ! ) - naturally ... And, this does lead us nicely here to the 6/25/95 & 6/25/95 2-Show RFK stand ! ... with Bob Dylan Opening !! ... the ' Last & Final ! ' RFK Dead Shows " Ever !! " in Washington, D.C. -- at Good Ol' RFK !!! So yeah ... some Grateful Dead ! ( History ) and also some Marvel Comics ! ( History ) too here for this 6/24/95 Pass from the 1st Show of this 2-Show RFK '95 Dead-run. As 1995 was actually the awesome year it was agreed The Grateful Dead would feature an Amazing ! line of Marvel Comics " Superheroes ! " & " Supervillains ! " on many of their Backstage Passes for this Touring-Year ! Pretty exciting - right ? And, it even gets better - as this one here for the RFK ( D.C. ! ) Nation's Capital Tour stop ( 6/24/95 ) featuring none other than ... " Captain America !!! ". Whoa !?! ' Steve Rodgers ! ' ... " Saving America !! " - Since 1941 !!! No, wait ... I mean " Captain America !!! ". Nice ... and, so you know the story right ? Steve was given an " Experimental-Serum " - and it enhanced him to his Full ! Superhero ways - and this, naturally was to have him assist the U.S. Government in winning the current conflict ! Which, at that time was World War II. Captain America, all dressed in the " USA-Look " - which in '41 - must have been way-fashionable. Looked good in '95 ! and still looks good here today - on Steve !! Ha ! Plus, his very cool Shield ! - with Stars & Stripes !! too - of course ... could be used not only as a Shield ! but as a Weapon !! - that could be thrown with Accuracy & Deadliness - sort of like a Boomerang ! ' meets ' Throwing Star ! Dang, just typing this takes me back to my Childhood ! Well, you know - like I ever left anyways -- Ha ! So wait ! I see some similarities here ... Steve gets ' given ' a serum - turns into Captain America ! - and then helps the U.S. Government ! - ' Win the War !? ' and " Save the World ??! ". Huh, now it makes perfect-sense why he is so perfectly-featured on the " RFK / Washington D.C. " Dead Show Pass !! The Good Ol' Grateful Dead !!! ... still up to those old Prankster Tricks ! even in 1995 ! ... And, as it turned out too - this 2nd Show of this 2-Show RFK '95 Dead-run - the " Murder Of Crowes ! " Backstage Pass indeed represents not only one of the Last-10 Shows the Grateful Dead ever played ( 9th to last, to be precise ) - but, it also indeed marks the ' Last & Final ' time " Ever ! " The Grateful Dead ever-played R.F.K. Stadium !! Wow ... and trust me here - as years before this '95 run - it truly felt like it would never-ever end. I hope You ! were in there for this Show - and - if not ... at least for one-of " The RFK-15 ! " - because they were truly all sights to behold ( from the ' real ' Rock & Roll Era ! ) - without any doubt. In fact, I think this might have been the very-last Venue that I ever saw Garcia Rockin' a Pony-Tail ! - on Summer Tour '89 !! Ha ! and as for Weir ? ... well, nah ... Ha !!! But just maybe ? ... " double-barrettes " ?!! ( Hah !!! ) - Whoa ?!? ... some-serious " Sunshine Daydream !!!! ". Classic, as I just couldn't-resist throwing that in here ... right ? And too ... I also think this was the very-last Venue in '89 that I ever ! saw Garcia strap on a Fender Strat ! ... Maple Fret Board - in Black ! - during Space !! naturally ... with that whole ' New ' at the time - MIDI rig and all. Oh my, the Grate ! Times - so yeah, when I-think of R.F.K. !!! ... they are-indeed Countless !! A place where the Music Most-Definitely ! ' Never~Stopped ' !! 6/24/95 & 6/25/1995 R.F.K.
