"The scope of the work is U. S. Postage Stamps which contain certain major errors issued unintentionally and certain other stamps which may resemble errors, as in the case of certain imperforate stamps, which have reached the public domain by channels other than by which stamps would normally be sold or issued... Three categories of major error are listed: stamps lacking perforations; multicolored stamps lacking one or more colors which would normally have been present; and stamps of two or more colors in which one of the design elements have been inverted during printing" The book is the 1988 edition.
