Sideswipe Charles Willeford Pre-owned VG 1988 Ballantine paperback in the Hoke Moseley series. Miami police detective Moseley, first introduced in “Miami Blues,” has had it. A nervous breakdown, two daughters who want to drop out of high school, and a pregnant, unmarried partner have combined to persuade Hoke that he needs to leave police work and Miami and manage a small hotel. But a violent psychopath and his motley gang of a little old man, a talentless artist and a disfigured stripper pull Hoke back into his job with their criminal carnage. The result is another darkly funny, bleakly nihilistic thriller by a master of the form. Ballantine issued the 1987 novel as a first edition thus in July 1988. This copy shows some minor shelf wear and minor tanning at the top and along the edges of the front and back covers. There is some tanning inside the book covers as well and a crease next to the bar code. But the book is unmarked and its spine is straight and firm.
