Lot of THREE - "POLONAISE" Souvenir Program /Chicago Stagebill Playbill & Flyer This Musical with Chopin Music was in Chicago direct from Broadway for a limited engagement in 1946 Ultra Rare - I do not think it was ever staged again although there was a 3 record set of the musical numbers from Victor Records Polonaise was a musical in three acts about the interesting Thaddeus Kosciusko who sympathized and fought in the American Revolution, immigrated to the US, was friends with Thomas Jefferson and when he died left his US assets to education and freedom of US slaves Setting of the Musical- West Point in 1783, New York, Crawcow, Poland, The Manor House, The Hayfield, The Royal Palace in Warsaw, The Battle of Macijowice, Volkoff's Headquarters, and Philadelphia My mother saw it on March 30, 1946 and wrote the date in ink as well as the name of the guy who took her to this play and most likely purchased the 12 page souvenir program for her . These special souvenir programs for purchase are rare and hard to find unlike the playbills. Of note is a stamp in the back of the Union label The program is large - 9"x12". It has lightly folded in the middle and has curled edges. It has been leafed through a lot but no damage. There is also the matching playbill called "stagebill" in Chicago And a flyer advertisement for the musical The large 12 page 9x12" program is in nice vintage condition with the date in ink as I mentioned and curled edge with a faint fold in the middle The playbill (stagebill) and flyer are excellent vintage condition with date and name in ink You get both program AND playbill for the price! If you are a historian of collector of RARE musical theater - do not pass this up! FREE SHIPPING
