Vintage Veiligglas European Wirepull Marble. This is a Type 2 variation; with a coloured base, and usually a single white thread. Coloured base Veiligglas tend to be harder to find, as they are prized for their transparent matrixes which exude intense coloured hues when illuminated; and provide a contrasting medium for the wire. These mesmerising Veiligglas Wirepull marbles were made in the Netherlands during the 50's and 60's. The different types (1,2,3, and type 4 or hybrid types) have a clear or transparent coloured glass base with a single or double wire, often unbroken in the twists and turns it makes as it fills the base glass. They have a widely varied, highly collectible and enjoyable character, with many different combinations of wire type, colour and structure - varying from wispy and amorphous to bold, flat 'tapeworm' designs. These attractive vintage marbles were very popular when they were made, and are becoming harder to obtain over time. This marble would make an ideal start to a collection, or an addition to a enthusiast's portfolio. Size: Please see the title for the size, which is given in mm and fractions of an inch. Condition: Mint - , with an excellent surface and only very minor wear. Please view the photos to reveal the surfaces, forms and colours of the marble, this allows a visual evaluation of condition.
