Listing details

This 19th century water

color portrait depicts a couple captured from a prior photograph with family name Ottinger. The piece showcases intricate details and beautiful

color tones that bring the image to life. The type of art is water

color from a formal sitting and it was produced back circa 1860 when this was popular. The piece falls under the collectibles category and is a water

color image from a formal sitting or prior photograph. It is an ideal addition to any historical collection. The piece is a true masterpiece that exudes elegance and class, making it a great addition to any home or office. It was obviously a prominent family. I see the name Ottinger in the top margin. There is a Th. Which may be Theodore. There is the remains of a letter b fire it which may be the tail of a W. The Ottinger family in the 19th century and as a prominent family in Germantown, Pa. I have taken a loop to the image and I see no evidence of a prior photographic image below the watercolor. I look at the paper it was on and it does not look like photographic paper of the era. Although some photographs were gently colored to his one is in a class of its own. This may have been taken from a photograph from the era or done live from a formal setting. The image is 6 1/2 by 8 3/4. There is a pencil over the water

color which shows where a frame would have been placed. You are covered completely if you find evidence that this was a photograph colored. I stand behind what I offer.
