Listing details
Grebo masks can often have several sets of eyes. This one doesn't. It is an impressive thing, skillfully carved from a single piece of extremely dense hard wood. Alongside the tubular "blind eyes" are two groups of sight holes for seeing while wearing. The attachment holes in the rim of its back show the erosion caused by repeated lashing to a costume. It does have a mighty crack (photos 14 and 15) but that is completely stable. I have owned it for many years and no further splitting has occurred. It is at the very back and interior, not visible once hung. Including the horns it is a little over 18" tall. Overall, very good condition. U.S. buyers please. [Boston Primitive]
