The one thing is remembered for is when he decided to see if he could fool the literary critics when he wrote a poem called "Fire Fiend" and sent in out saying in was copied from an unpublished manuscript of Edgar Allen Poe in his possession. It was written in the style of "The Raven" and indeed did fool some critics who agreed it was a Poe work but one that was no good enough for publication or unfinished.
