Detailed item info ANTIQUE JAPAN JAPANESE BONE MARBLE FAUX PAS STATUE WOMAN ANCIENT Since Asian items are not my specialty, I anxiously await the input of any Ebayer who may know something about this statue. I shall try my best to describe it. This Japanese statue was bought at an estate recently of a well known world traveling businessmen who picked this up on one of his travels to the Orient. The statue is that of an elegant Japanese woman, dressed in the finery clothing of her day. There's also some Japanese (3 symbols) writing on the front of the sword which the lady is holding which I have photographed (please click to see a closeup). There's also Japanese writing on the bottom of the stand which this image is mounted upon. The statue is anywhere between 70 to 150 years old. WEIGHT: This statue is HEAVY! Leading me to believe that the material used is marble/stone or perhaps (not) i v o r y or bone. It weighs WITH the stand (which weighs 160 grams) 1590 grams! HEIGHT: 12.5 inches. This statue came together with another similar styled statue of a Confucian looking person, made by the same person since it has the same writing on the bottom of the stand.
