SCARCE SQUARE COPPER WALKER GUN POWDER MAGAZINE

You are looking at the Walker copper gunpowder magazine. Square form with bail handle and triple lid with latch pin and stamped on lid and side 'Walker Patentee'. Used in preserving gun powder for ready use and from accidental explosion. The outside exterior front and the top of the lid are stamped "WALKER /PATENTEE". Made from copper, it has a circular opening with copper liner beneath a wooden lid with a copper lockable lid. Both the main magazine and the circular copper lid covering the circular aperture stamped ‘WALKER PATENTEE’. Copper locking catch to accommodate the existing pin (or a padlock). Folding copper carrying handle. Really good condition overall. Height 8-1/2 inches. I’ve never seen the square shape, always rounded, which was patented on the 7th September 1810 (No.3373) by James Walker. Please read auction terms before bidding. Thank you.
