An old vintage Tibetan engraving of Adi-Buddha with Prajnaparamita overpainted in watercolour. 20th c. The Buddha that has neither a beginning or an ending is known as Adi Buddha. He is considered to be the original Buddha. He has infinite existence, self-created and representing himself in a blue flame emitting out of a lotus. He is considered he embodiment of sunya, or emptiness. The five Dhyani Buddhas are said to owe their origin to him, a theory originated in Nalanda monastery in the 10th c. He is the highest deity in the Buddhist pantheon. There is some minor wear to the painted surface commensurate with age. Please look carefully at the images as they form part of the description.
