B"HArt Deco-style desk in the manner of Emile-Jacques Ruhlman.Crafted with an eye for elegance and functionality, this Two-Sided Desk epitomizes the French Art Deco style. Originating from the Manner of Emile-Jacques Ruhlmann (1879-1933), it is an authentic piece that embodies the sophistication of the early to mid-20th century. Boasting a rich solid Mahogany finish with stainless steel handles, the desk strikes a perfect balance between vintage charm and timeless design. The desk's dimensions are a substantial 62 inches in length, 32 inches in width, and 30 inches in height, providing ample space for both work and storage. Equipped with six drawers, it offers generous compartmentalization for organizing papers, files, and personal items. The free-standing design ensures that this exquisite piece can be the focal point of any room, adding a touch of historical grandeur to your space. [30 x 60 x 32 inches; 25 3/4 inches to apron].Emile-Jacques Ruhlmann (1879-1933) was a furniture and interior designer based in Paris during the first third of the twentieth century. His work is regarded as some of the finest in the Art Deco style, which became popular in America, Europe and beyond between about 1910 and 1939. Ruhlmann was famed for his exquisitely crafted furniture and interiors where he often employed non-European and expensive materials. The use of macassar ebony to veneer this table's surfaces would have ensured that it was affordable only to the wealthiest buyer. The designer called his more richly crafted creations his 'precious pieces'. We do not know if this table was one of these but the elegant lines and expensive materials are typical of Ruhlmann's work. The designer himself never received any formal training in cabinet-making, but he collaborated closely with the craftsmen that he recruited to ensure that his designs were carried out to the highest possible standard.Signed: I don't see any.Date: probably 1920's - 1970's (???)Dimensions: H: 30 inches: W: 62 inches: L: 32 inchesMateriel: Very Heavy & Hi-Quality Wood, & Chrom.Condition: Very good for the age. ***About 20 years ago, I had a Very big & nice, Fine Art & Antiques Gallery store in Greenwich Connecticut.
