Description:This finely hand-coloured 19th-century engraving depicts the noble and tragic Lady Arabella Stuart, a cousin to King James I and once considered a potential heir to the English throne. Born into the royal Stuart line, Arabella was at the center of dynastic intrigue and royal suspicion. Her secret marriage and subsequent imprisonment by James I led to her early death in the Tower of London. This portrait captures her in lavish Elizabethan dress, with voluminous sleeves, elaborate jewels, and a richly detailed fan, reflecting her noble status and the fashion of the late Tudor and early Jacobean courts.Size 16x22 cm Beautiful collection of antique period fashion engravings for collectors.
