Listing details

This is a DEPT 56 Heritage Village CHRISTMAS PUDDING COSTERMONGER! Perfect condition with no chips, cracks, repairs or missing parts. Comes in the original box and sleeve. Christmas pudding originated as a 14th century porridge called 'frumenty' that was made of beef and mutton with raisins, currants, prunes, wines and spices. It is referrred to in 'A Christmas Carol' by Charles Dickens - "Hallo! A great deal of steam! The pudding was out of the copper. A smell like a washing-day! That was the cloth. A smell like an eating-house and a pastrycook's next door to each other, with a laundress's next door to that! That was the pudding. In half a minute Mrs. Cratchit entered: flushed, but smiling proudly: with the pudding, like a speckled cannon-ball, so hard and firm, blazing in half of half-a-quartern of ignited brandy, and bedight with Christmas holly stuck into the top. Oh, a wonderful pudding! Bob Catchit said, and calmly too, that he regarded it as the greatest success achieved by Mrs. Cratchit since their marriage...." This piece is wonderful. You can see the "sugar" glittering on the pudding. Item will be boxed with added protection for shipping. Listing photos may contain my own stock photos. Have questions? Just ask!
