2xHD Fusion Keep It Reel - here for you [https://www.thesoundoftape.com/collections/vendors?q=2xHD] Deluxe Double 45RPM Vinyl: Live at Art D’Lugoff’s Top of the Gate Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 captures two complete sets of the Bill Evans trio with bassist Eddie Gomez and drummer Marty Morell on October 23, 1968, at Art D’Lugoff’s legendary Village Gate club in New York City. It’s the only Evans recording released from The Village Gate. The trio had been together only for several weeks when these recordings were made. While they provide admirable support particularly Gomez, whose playing was always strongly simpatico with Evans's vision the leader's playing remains a wonder to behold. The quality of the ideas that flowed from his brain to his hands is unmatched in the history of jazz piano. Never the flashiest nor the loudest player, Evans had a quiet grace and an exquisite impressionistic touch that to this day remain unequaled. Recorded At Top of The Gate - Top of The Gate upstairs performance room of the Village Gate from 1964 to 1994. The Village Gate was a nightclub at the corner of Thompson and Bleecker Streets in Greenwich Village, New York City. Founded in 1958 by brothers Art D'Lugoff & Burt D'Lugoff. The Top of The Gate room was added in 1964. The Village Gate closed its Greenwich Village location in February 1994. The Village Gate name was again used in 1996 at 240 West 52nd Street until 1997. “Bill Evans Live at Art D’Lugoff’s Top of the Gate…rivals Evans’s revered Village Vanguard recordings for Riverside in June ’61. The music is frighteningly vivid – like being seated at a table on stage amid the musicians.” — Wall Street Journal Album: Bill Evans - Top Of The Gate Live At Art D'Lugoff's Vol. 2Label: 2xHD - 2XHDRE-V1241Format: 2 x Vinyl, 12", 45 RPM, Album, Limited Edition, Numbered, 200grCountry: CanadaReleased: 01 December 2023Genre: JazzStyle: Post Bop, Modal, Cool Jazz Tracklist: Side A:1.
