Fresh from a local estate that had hundreds of radios, this is highly desireable vintage RCA Superette Model R-7A tombstone radio. This was a top of the line radio, when it was made back in 1931 featuring 8 tubes, with the "A" version of the R-7 using type 47 pentode output tubes instead of the type 45 that were used in the R-7. The radio is able to get reception on the AM band quite readily and the volume is strong, with the antenna extended and the ground wire grounded. For a video of the unit playing see the attached link: The knobs turn smoothly and properly, but the one on the right is cracked and the tuning knob does not appear to be original. The dial indicator functions properly as well. Cosmetically, the finish on the radio is all original and has simply been cleaned and polished with a professional wood wax. There are some scratches and scrapes, but overall the radio presents quite well. The grill cloth has a few tears/frayed areas, but still presents well. The original cloth power cord is in fair condition, with some fraying. The chassis is fairly clean, with no evidence of rust. Great radio to add to your collection.
