Great original suitcase that was used by an Air Force man in service who was in WW2. the single star would be Air Force/Army Air Corps, and Waco Texas was a pilot training facility, and for a while the headquarters of 12th Air Force. Also speculation, but a pilot theoretically could have been able to haul around the suitcase, where an infantry guy may not have. One strap is busted on the case. Please see last photo.
