The mystery has persisted for over 200 years. It all started when in 1795, Daniel Mcinnis and two friends found a strange depression in the ground. They decided to dig into the spot and see what they could find. To their surprise, around ten feet down, they came across a layer of oak logs. As they kept digging, the three kept finding layers of logs every ten feet. Even more interesting, they came upon a large rock covered in strange markings. The three men couldn’t read the markings. Supposedly, an expert later determined the rock read, “Forty feet below two million pounds are buried.” Since that time, many have chased the Oak Island mystery.
