This is an early 1950’s Craftsman 6 drawer top tool chest with no keys for the original lock. This is likely a 1951-53 box based on the drawer pull design as there is no date in the drawer behind the Craftsman badge where the Advertising Metal Display Company. This box had lived in a body shop for a portion of its life and followed by being a wood shop work box and was wearing all the various elements of its life to include polishing compounds, random paint spatter, sanding dust, wood dust, sanding supplies and etc—all the stuff these tool chests encounter during a 70+ year life cycle. The nickel side handles bare the truth of how this box lived as they’re still riveted in place and barely show any surface rust. The slides are all fairly clean with little slop/wear. The exterior paint is thin and scratched off in spots and there’s been no coating applied to try and fake the condition or add shine where it doesn’t belong. This box with the shown photos are showing the honest version of what the buyer will receive. The surface rust in the top tool storage area and the small right drawer is untreated. If this box is going to house collectibles-I would be happy to apply felt lining to all the drawers for a custom look—but that would be an extra cost. Just food for thought-The blocks on the back are stops that a previous machinist owner installed-and can be removed if the buyer decides. Photos show condition accurately-some photos with flash and others with just ambient LED lighting. The box has been cleaned and separate of a greater effort-this box shows about as good as it’s going to get without paint work or some significant polishing/buffing of the gray paint at least.Local pickup in Union Grove, Wi 53182 for cash buyers and shipping to the lower 48 is free likely via UPS or Spee-Dee.
