A two-piece antique paper doll, from the 1890s, of one of Palmer Cox's "Brownies" riding a kangaroo, manufactured, according to the printing on the back, by the Lion Coffee company. This doll is further collectible because it belonged to the family of the Milwaukee, Wisconsin, artist and illustrator Noel Spangler (1923-2021) (designer of the Summerfest logo), whose wife Janet "Jan" Spangler was, among other things, an avid collector of paper dolls. Some other paper dolls from this collection will be appearing for sale on this eBay account, or have already been. Please inquire for more details.Jan Spangler included a handwritten note with this doll, reading, "Lion Coffee / Palmer Cox Brown / Riding Series / 'Soldier on Kangaroo['] / 1892-95."This doll measures approximately 4" x 4.25". It weighs less than 1 oz.This paper doll is in played-with condition, but intact. See images, which are of the actual item, not stock photos.
