THE QUARRYMEN / ORIGINAL 78 DISC RECORDING / REPLICAThis is a replica of the original 1958 quarrymen recording. I have duplicated the disc as closely as possible, including the label and record sleeve. The recordings are loud and bright and have been processed and declicked. The result is an exact replica of the original recording that probably sounds better than the original. The Quarrymen recorded their original 10-inch, 78 rpm acetate vanity disc on July 12, 1958, at Percy Phillips' studio in Liverpool for 17 shillings and threepence. ($ 2.42 U.S. dollars) The disc features "That'll Be The Day" (Buddy Holly cover) and "In Spite of All the Danger" (McCartney/Harrison), with members John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, John "Duff" Lowe (piano), and Colin Hanton (drums). Key Details of the original Recording:Location: Philips Sound Recording Service, 38 Kensington, Liverpool. The Session: Recorded in one take each, directly onto a 10-inch aluminum and acetate disc.Members: John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, John "Duff" Lowe (piano), and Colin Hanton (drums).Songs: Side A: "That'll Be The Day" (Buddy Holly); Side B: "In Spite of All the Danger" (McCartney/Harrison).COPYRIGHT NOTICE : You are not paying for the songs on this disc, you are paying for my ability to produce a recording on an obsolete medium, A 78 RPM 10" LEXAN DISC. NOTE : THIS IS A MODERN MICROGROOVE RECORDING AND CANNOT BE PLAYED ON AN ACOUSTIC (WIND UP) PHONOGRAPHThe recordings are loud and bright. Be aware this recording is not cut, it is embossed on a black lexan disk. Set. your tracking weight to 4 grams and anti-skating to 4.2 or appropriate for your turntable.
