So the story goes...It's 1968 and Duane Allman's birthday. Unfortunately, he's sick so brother Gregg brings by the new Taj Mahal album and a bottle of Corocidin (the mainstay cold medicine of its time). Duane pours out the meds, cleans the bottle and uses the bottle as a slide. It becomes part of his signature sound. Years later Derek Trucks would use the same type of bottle to develop his technique and sound, as well. These are genuine and the actual shape that lends itself to playing slide. They have the characteristic "W" for Wheaton Glass (the manufacturer), a number that corresponds to the mold that was used to shape them, they have the double seam, and a waviness on the inside of the glass. I think they strike a good balance between being heavy enough for good tone, but light enough to move around the neck.Check out the photos and let me know if you have any questions.
