Hello, here is a VERY nice and 100% Natural winged INSECT fossil or BEE fossil in its 50 Million YEAR old Green River Formation Matrix! This bug was quarried in an extinct lake that is known as Fossil Lake in Lincoln County, Wyoming.Here's More Info LONG but interesting....Fifty-million years ago an ancient Lake existed in what is now Southwest Wyoming, US. The unusual chemistry of the lake created conditions that prevented decay while alternating layers of limestone and organic matter accumulated. The resulting laminated limestone LAYERS contain the highest concentration of articulated fish fossils in the world....neat! This fossil dates from the Eocene Era a Crazy! 53.5 to 48.5 Million years ago!The overall piece or matrix measures around 2 11/16" or 6.7cm at its biggest or from opposing side to side.
