Dead Fans !! ... if you were there on this-here Mammoth !!! day of Grateful Dead - then You ! are in the know. Be seriously-proud of that " Life Accomplishment " ... & Grate ! Job. And if you didn't catch the 7/8/90 Show at Three Rivers Stadium - well ... I'm glad to say that you indeed still have a " 2nd Chance Offer ! " ( Ha ! ) - in the form of the Grateful Dead " View From The Vault I " DVD !! And it goes without saying - and re-stating the obvious ... there was way-good-reason this Amazing ! day-turned-night of Pittsburgh Live-Dead !! was so-accurately selected for Pro-Release ! ... because the Band was Red-Hot !!! ... on Sheer-Fire !!!!! The DVD provides the ' Proof ' - so I don't even need to go on too much - like I like to ! But seriously ... they came out on stage - it was Hot-Sunny - felt like 120-degrees - and most of the Boys were wearing Shades ! They got down to business in an Instant ! - and the rest was just pure G.D. History !! They Hammmmmered !!! this Show !! - through & through. And the really funny thing is ? - surprising, or not - you could argue that the set list itself looked kind of ' average '. But my fellow Dead Fans ... this was one of those Dead-Days where basically Every-Single-Note ! was played with ' Perfection ' - Tones were ' On ' - the Band was completely " Dead-Sync " - - and Garcia was a Complete ! Fret board Monster !! I used to always joke about how this was actually " Jerry " on this Pass ! - versus the Reonegro-designed " Voodoo Skeleton Zombie " looking guy !!?!! I mean no joke ... as this was how-hard Garcia poured his Heart ! into this Show - much like most of the Summer '90 Tour ( & '89 Summer Tour too - for that matter ... ). But to put it bluntly - he strikes a treble-rift in Black Peter !! for goodness sakes ... that is one of my Favorite ! Garcia Power-moves on the Axe ! - of All-Time !! I'm totally-serious here ... and go right ahead & check it out for yourself ! And here we are talkin' about Black Peter ?!? - and not even the Samson ! - Greatest Story ! - Jack-A-Roe ! - Wang Dang ! - Minglewood ! - Let It Grow ! - Miracle & Lovelight ! Burners !!!!! that were delivered ' all-throughout ' this Wonderful ! Dead Show. Folks, this Show was Mean !!! ... and it was one of the by-far Hottest ! of Summer Tour '90 - up there with Cal State ( May ) - Foxboro - Buffalo, and RFK !!!! at least to my eyes, ears, and Dead Fan ' senses '.
