Crystal Glass Co 1890s Garland/Festoon Footed Cake Stand, Antique
This antique Crystal Glass Co footed cake stand features the Garland or Festoon pattern and dates to the 1890s. It is in good condition for its age, with tiny chips around the inside bottom edge of the pedestal (can be felt more than seen) and visible waves in the glass from manufacturing. There is also a mark that looks like a crack on a small portion of the underside that can be seen but not felt; a slight depression on the top may be from production, but is not certain. Garland or Festoon Pattern Footed Cake Stand by Crystal Glass CoAccording to the Early American Pattern Glass Society website, the maker of this cake plate was the Crystal Glass Company in Bridgeport, Ohio. The company operated from 1888 until 1907, and this pattern was introduced in 1890. This pattern was called either Garland or Festoon, and it appears in the October 1890 Falker & Stern catalogue as well as the 1891-92 Montgomery Ward catalog. Measurements: 6 inches height x 10 inches diameterThis antique cake stand is in good condition considering its age. It has some tiny chips around the inside bottom edge of the pedestal that can be felt rather than seen. The glass has some waves within it that were part of the manufacturing process. It also has what looks like a crack in a small portion of the plate that can be seen but not felt on the underside. On the top side there is a slight depression along the wavy line leading me to think that it was part of the manufacturing process but unsure (see last photo). Overall, the cake stand is in beautiful condition. Examine photos closely.
