This plastic and metal ball winder has an integral clamp to fasten the winder to table tops up to 1.5 inches thick using the red knob. The yarn guide is fixed in the upright position for operating by pulling the mechanism outwards from the body, and can be relaxed for storage by pushing it back in again. The cone attaches/detaches and from the body with a twist action, so it is possible to leave the yarn ball on the cone - particularly useful if you are going to be working with the yarn in one place.
