Illustrated throughout with 63 engraved (etchings) plates (with wide blank margins- large paper), early hand written index at front prior to title page.. 20th century 1/2 leather binding, smooth spine, gilt title lettering, marbled covers and end papers. Item is physically old and shows some signs of handling and time. Item is not new or in "new" condition. Binding gently age worn, remains overall tight, sound, attractive as an object. Text block paper is gently toned, light to moderate scattered age spotting to some plates, internally still well preserved, tight, sound. Still attractive on the shelf. Book displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in nice antiquarian condition, any age flaws easy to overlook or forgive.
