Listing details

This is a very nice early 20th century woven tapestry. Purchased in Belgium in the mid 1960s by my parents, and they believed this to be made in the 1900 to 1920 period. Measures 66" long x 49" wide, and depicts a group of ladies in Greek type attire gathered in a garden. Subdued

color tones, unlike so many which are strangely bright. Overall, the tapestry is in relatively good condition for over 100 years old. I don't know if was before my folks acquired it or since, but it has some water staining which you can see in the photos. One 2" tear in an unobtrusive location (see photo 9). Otherwise, it is really quite remarkable and definitely lovely. In my family for over 60 years and now ready to become part of your art collection!The photos are of the very tapestry you are bidding on, not a "similar" item.
