Listing details

Indian Wars Pattern 1880 Cavalry Saber with brass hardware and non etched 31 1/2 inch long unsharpened unnicked blade. The fuller is unstopped, and the saber is lighter, all characteristics of the Pattern 1880 Lightweight Cavalry Sabers. This saber has been carried extensively during the Indian Wars because the scabbard has rubbed against the saddle when it was attached to the hook on the saber hanger belt and wore the nickel plating on the side of the scabbard just below the first suspension ring shown in two pictures. The blade is unmarked ( NOT GERMANY) so an American blade and the crossed sabers and the shield on the pommel top are exactly like the blade and pommel on an 1880 Lightweight Ames Saber I have except it has bronze hardware and an etched blade, so I am sure this saber was made by The Ames Sword Co. Chicopee, Mass! I slid the fiber washer out of the way so the buyers can see the ricasso was never marked on either side. The tan colored leather wrap over the wooden handle is perfect as is the twisted wire. Ask questions before you bid because all sales are final, and I only sell to the Good Old U. S. of A. The saber will be well packed with bubble wrap and put in an appropriate

size box for mailing, and it will get to you in the same amazing condition this 135 + year old saber is in. Good Luck, bid often and happy bidding because this rare unmarked saber will not disappoint the most discriminating Indian Wars collector. May GOD bless and protect our Doctors, Nurses, Service Personnel, Military and Police Officers during these unusual time. I will be out of town till Thursday of next week, so if you ask questions, I can't answer them till then! Thanks, John
