What is the Voltage Blaster? The Voltage Blaster is an ISA card, that provides -5V to computers that use a PSU (Power Supply Unit) that does not supply -5V. It achieves this by using a voltage regulator and supplies -5V to all ISA slots on that machine.Old AT and ATX PSUs provide -5V. There are a handful of ISA cards, especially sound cards, which require -5V to function at all, or to function correctly:Roland LAPC-ISound Blaster 2Pro Audio Spectrum 16Unfortunately old PSUs can be very unreliable and can even blow up, risking damage to rare and expensive retro computer parts. Clean and reliable power is important and therefore I recommend using modern PSUs. However they do not supply -5V anymore. Moreoever there are ATX to AT power adapters, and only some versions have integrated voltage regulator to generate -5V.
