And that’s saying something because he made the NBA All-Rookie Team in 2023/24. But in 2023/24 - he was largely a reserve that was brought in for energy, or to play the role of defensive stopper.. and he was really good. But in 2024/25 he was thrust into a starring role for much of the season because of injuries. This ended up being a blessing in disguise for everyone involved. Yes, Amen’s defense is his calling card . He made the 2024/25 NBA All-Defensive Team and averaged almost 3 ‘Stocks’ or ‘Steals + Blocked Shots’ per game, which is elite. But what we saw in 2024/25 is that he has incredible Court vision - when tasked with playing on ball, he had multiple games with double digit assists, including a triple double against the Clippers… when he was asked to take in a scoring role, he had multiple games with at least 20 points including 25 points against the Warriors in the playoffs. And lastly, even after going from 20 minutes per game to over 30 minutes per game, he didn’t lose any speed and didn’t lose any intensity. And guess whatwhat… he is only 22. He is now the second piece, along with Sengun, that the Rockets can build around. It is no surprise that Kevin Durant wanted to join the Rockets.. He will be an All Star for years to come.
