ANTIQUE ORIGINAL PERIOD WELLS FARGO STRONGBOX

Offered is an original Wells Fargo wooden treasure box. Box made of pine and oak, the box was painted overall at one point in its life, the paint was worn away to show the Makers mark left side under the lid. Faint Wells Fargo & Co. on the front. There is what appears to be a boot imprint on the lid , no doubt caused by the “Shotgun” guard on the Stagecoach. Climax padlock with replacement key. Original, REAL Strongboxes in my experience have a distinctive smell. I’ve handled many over the years including strongboxes displayed at the Autry Museum in Los Angeles. This is a true and authentic Wells Fargo Strongbox showing years of wear on various Stagecoaches, wear consistent with age, wear consistent with handling in all weather conditions. Original leather handles present and in fair condition. A must have for any serious collector of Western Americana. The box will be shipped at no additional expense to the buyer.
