DETAILS: Original vintage photograph. Has Forest J. Ackerman's hand written initials on the reverse. This photo was discovered along with a number of other items that once belonged to the Warren Publishing art department when the magazine was still based in Philadelphia. Warren was the publisher of the original Famous Monsters of Filmland Magazine. For other items from this collection, be certain to visit our ebay store. Measures approx. 8" x 6" inches. PROVENANCE: From the estate of comic book artist Al Kilgore (1927-1983). Kilgore was a noted comic book artist, animator, writer and film maker. He worked for Dell Publishing starting in the late 1940's and was responsible for the publishers magazine art department. He then went on to work for Warren Magazines in the late 1950's contributing content to all of there titles including Famous Monsters Of Filmland magazine. Starting in the 1960's he became a freelance artist and was a regular contributor to Dell's Four Color comic book series. From 1962-67 he was the artist on the Bullwinkle comic strip for the Bell-McClure Syndicate. He also drew regularly for Gold Key, Whitman and King Features comics throughout the 1960's-1970's.
