This cable enables your Icom radio to control your Acom 'S' series linear amplifier. The cable assembly has a DE15 male plug which connects to the Acom's CAT/AUX socket and a 13 pin DIN plug to connect to the transceiver's ACC socket. For use with Acom 'S' series amplifiers, for example:Acom 600S Acom 700SAcom 1200SAcom 2020SThe following functions are available with this cable:PTT - The amplifier switches to transmit and back to receive at the same time as the transceiver.Band - The amplifier is able to determine the amateur that the transceiver is tuned to. It then automatically switches to the correct band and if amplifier has an ATU fitted, recalls the appropriate ATU setting from memory.Remote on/off - Switching on the transceiver also switches on the amplifier ready for use. Likewise, switching off the transceiver powers down the amplifier. Disconnect any existing PTT cable before connecting this cable - it is not necessary and will cause incorrect operation. This cable uses Band control. A CI-V control version is also available. Band Data cables (either BCD or Voltage) must not be used if ACOM 04AT remote automatic antenna tuner and switch is a part of the system. Please purchase the CI-V version. There are two methods for your linear amplifier to obtain operating frequency information from your transceiver automatically. You can use the information here to choose which you prefer. You will then need to buy the corresponding Cat/CI-V or Band control cable as they are wired differently. Cat/CI-V control The amplifier is able to determine the exact frequency that the transceiver is tuned to. It then automatically switches to the correct band and if amplifier has an ATU fitted, recalls the appropriate ATU setting from memory. Pro - The ATU in the amplifier is able to more accurately match the antenna before you transmit. Con - May make it difficult or impossible to control the transceiver from your computer e.g. for logging software. Band control The amplifier is able to determine the amateur band that the transceiver is set to. It then automatically switches to the correct band. Pro - Doesn't use your Cat/CI-V connection so you can use this to control your transceiver from your PC e.g. for logging software.
