This strainer is fit with an 80 mesh filter, this refers to the holes per inch, in this instance 80 holes per inch, which filters out substances 177 microns or larger. These strainers are built to last. Both the body and components are made from Stainless Steel and the drain plug meets the body at a PTFE Gasket making the strainer sturdy and entirely lead-free. The end plug can easily be removed for cleaning and maintenance. This port is M-threaded and can be fitted with a blow-off valve for ease of cleaning, speed, and the ability to clean without shutting your system down. Similar to a filter, strainers remove particulates from media, however, with strainers the metal inserts are easily removable and can be cleaned making them reusable. Y-strainers should be installed inline and with the screen in the downward position causing debris to be trapped in the collection chamber. Debris can cause many issues with certain applications including clogging, tearing, and excess stress, Y-strainers are used to remove the debris before it reaches equipment and causes expensive issues. It is much simpler to remove debris from a strainer than from a valve or pump. Save yourself, time, money, and labor by installing a y-strainer into your application.
