Navy Sashiko Panel Irises & Dragonflies Fabric for Quilts and Garments

Gorgeous sashiko panels - these wonderful pieces are a lovely introduction to the traditional craft of sashiko, a Japanese embroidery technique that dates back to the Edo period (1600-1800s). Sashiko does NOT require any embroidery knowledge, there are no fancy stitches to learn, or special techniques. The design is outlined with simple running stitches (push the needle up, move to the length of the marked line, push the needle down, repeat!), and you can add your own creative vision with your choice of

color of thread, weight of thread, if you want to add applique or fancy stitches to fill the design in, etc. You certainly may add applique and fancy stitches, but it will look fabulous even if you just do the simple outline!! You can turn the finished panel into a wall hanging, or add it into a quilt, or piece into a garment. Cut out blocks and use separate from the whole, or use the whole as one piece. The options are endless!!Panel design is printed in silvery white on rich dark blue cotton, and the printed design will wash out when you are done. (So be careful not to prewash the fabric and don't get it wet or steam it before you are ready to lose the design!!). BUT, this also means you can skip or alter any part of the design, and since the printed lines wash out, there will be no evidence that the manufacturer intended anything else!This long panel features a design of irises and dragonflies.
